Welcome to the board, nice to meet you!

i'm a former jw or joho as one of my sister's schoolmates used to call us.
(reminds me of the hojos we used to stay at for assemblies :d) i was raised as a witness, baptized at the age of 14 due to my father's constant pressuring.
i'm in my mid-30s now and i stopped attending meetings three years ago.
Welcome to the board, nice to meet you!

i'm just sat working on a new version of the forum (to bring it more up-to-date and make it better for non-ie browsers) and notice the date on the first post of the backup database that i'm working against ... 23 march 2000.. i can't believe it's been 8 years !
.
thank you to everyone who has participated over the years and helped keep this place alive to help others coming out of the wts.
Happy Birthday, and thanks so much to you Simon for giving us all a home here! I want to express my gratitude for how much this site has helped me cope, and for all the love and support I have received!

greetings and warm wishes to everyone out there...
this is my first post here on the site, though i have spent many countless hours as a guest reading and reading your posts and conversations.
they have been a great encouragement to me, who as a young woman was disfellowshipped from the society about nine years ago.
Moxie,
I have just read the auto-biography section of your blog. Wow, can I ever relate to your story!! I think you are doing a wonderful thing, and it will be healing for you as well, I hope.
I will be checking your blog frequently. I know you will enjoy this forum, as it has helped me and many others tremendously!

Hello Moxie, a very warm welcome to the board!
A lot of us can relate to the shunning policy so you are among friends here. It is extremely painful and I am still finding ways to deal with it. Looking forward to hearing more from you!

there is simply no proper or honorable way to leave the cult.
period.
to leave is to fail, to die, to be defeated by evil.
This absolutely, positively IS a cult. If it isn't, I don't know what is...

it felt good!
i took that huge plastic bin that contained multiple copies of all the books given out by the society, all the old wt and awake's that i had, the year books, etc..... and threw into the city dump.
my boyfriend thought i should maybe bring the literature back to them and i said "hell no.... so they can give it out to more innocent people.. he agreed.
Good for you Tak! You don't need that negativity hanging around.
I remember when I threw all mine out as well...it felt so good. Like the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders. Every little bit of it. Made me feel free.

do you think long and hard before deciding on a course of action or are you impulsive??
?
I usually think things thru. The exception to this is when matters of the heart are involved, I have been quite impulsive.

this is part 2 of my journey out.

Thank you once again for sharing! Your story is so interesting. I am looking forward to hearing the rest of it. I'm so sorry for your pain.

i am fussy at times about what i drink and with whom i drink it.
personnaly, my favorite is jack daniels black label.
I am a red wine girl. I love a glass (or few!) of rich, full bodied wine...mmm. I think I will go have one...
MMO
p.s. I always got into too much trouble drinking Jack...I'm a wild one!
hey it's been awhile since i've left--almost 5 years now!
i haven't visited this site for quite a while now.
i was never dfd, but i have little contact with anything to do with jws.
I left about 12 years ago and not once have I ever gotten a call or a visit. Not that I want one, I am just sayin...
